Wayne Gretzky was born in 1961 in Brantford, Ontario. His father Walter built a rink in the family's backyard, where young Wayne spent countless hours practising his skating and passing.

The Edmonton years

Gretzky joined the Edmonton Oilers and led the team to four Stanley Cup championships in the 1980s. His vision on the ice and his talent for setting up teammates changed the way the game was played.
