Personal ties to Anglesey

The visit had added significance: William and Kate lived in a rented home near RAF Valley in Anglesey for three years, including before and after their 2011 wedding. The couple even enjoyed a brief mini-honeymoon in Wales before travelling to the Seychelles that May, and the stop came just before their 15th wedding anniversary on April 29.

Meeting the crews

During the outing he met women serving on the base and members of 202 Squadron, who provide mountain, maritime and search-and-rescue training, and took part in events marking the squadron’s long history.
