Dylan grew up in St. George, S.C., in the Lowcountry and found music early, writing songs and performing at markets, churches and local events from age 10. After his 2023 run on The Voice he often returned home to sing at concerts and weddings, and he was scheduled to perform in Moncks Corner on April 27.
He was raised by his mother, Julie Carter, whose death on Oct. 15, 2022 deeply affected him. Dylan frequently spoke about her influence, saying her memory drove him to pursue music and to audition for The Voice, where he performed "I Look to You," a song he had also sung at her funeral.
Dylan was close to his brother Cole and doting about his niece Claire, often sharing photos with her and bringing her to gigs. Beyond family, he was active in his community—performing locally and supporting causes.
