Podcast leads the way

Investigators say new tips, witness cooperation and information surfaced after the six-part podcast Who Killed Roxanne aired in 2025. The series was produced by local host Charles Dowdy after detectives who reopened the file in 2023 asked for public help. Authorities say the show helped piece together Sharp’s movements in the days before her body was found on Feb. 12, 1982.

Where the suspects are now

Spell was located April 21 in Dayton, Ohio, by agents with the Ohio Attorney General’s Bureau of Criminal Investigation and booked in Montgomery County Jail awaiting extradition. Taylor and Cooper were contacted April 22; both are in state prison on unrelated charges. Officials say the arrests came from renewed investigative work and witness cooperation.
