The two first met on the set of the 1981 film Caveman, where they played on-screen love interests. Both were involved with other people during filming, and Bach has said their relationship didn't truly begin until the last week of shooting, when friendship turned into romance.
They married in London on April 27, 1981 in front of about 70 guests, including Paul McCartney and George Harrison. It was a second marriage for each: Bach's daughter Francesca and Starr's daughter Lee took part in the day, and Bach wore a gown by designers David and Elizabeth Emanuel.
